Edmundo Gómez Moreno, better known as Raymix, was born on February 17, 1991, in San José El Vidrio, Estado de México. A visionary singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and performer, Raymix is the creator of electrocumbia—a groundbreaking fusion of traditional Mexican cumbia sonidera with global electronic music influences.
His musical journey began at 17 when his track Feeling the City was selected for Armin van Buuren’s iconic radio show A State of Trance, a milestone that hinted at his future in electronic music. In 2013, while completing a NASA research residency in California to develop an educational satellite, Raymix began experimenting with blending Latin rhythms and electronic soundscapes. The result was his debut electrocumbia Oye Mujer (2014), which became a viral sensation and now surpasses hundreds of millions of streams and views worldwide.
From there, hits like Ángel Malvado and Dónde Estarás cemented his place as a pioneer of the genre, collectively amassing more than 600 million streams. Promoted solely through digital platforms, his sound quickly captivated global audiences, landing him on Spotify’s Viral 50 México chart and launching his first U.S. tour in 2016 across 18 cities. His innovative style earned him recognition from outlets like Telemundo and Televisa and awards including Artista Revelación del Año and Ídolo de la Juventud at the Premios Gruperos in New York.
By 2018, Raymix was a household name, performing more than 40 shows across Mexico and the U.S., earning nominations at Premios Juventud, Premios Bandamax, and Premios de la Radio, while also winning Canción del Año – Regional Mexicano at the Latin American Music Awards for Oye Mujer. His growing discography has achieved 8 Platinum certifications and multiple Gold records in both Mexico and the U.S., making him one of the most successful independent crossover acts of his generation.
With billions of digital views and streams, international tours, and accolades from Premios Lo Nuestro, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Latin AMAs, Raymix continues to lead a movement that redefines cumbia for a new era. Known as the Rey de la Electrocumbia, his music bridges tradition and innovation, uniting audiences across borders through rhythm, energy, and cultural pride.
