Guadalupe Rivera Saavedra, known as Lupillo Rivera and affectionately called El Toro del Corrido, is one of the most enduring figures in Regional Mexican music. Born in La Barca, Jalisco, and raised in Long Beach, California, he began his career in the early 1990s working at his father’s label before launching his own path as a singer and songwriter.

His breakthrough came with the albums Puros Corridos Macizos and El Toro del Corrido, which established him as a powerful voice in corridos and banda. Over the years he has earned multiple Billboard hits, sold-out shows across Mexico and the United States, and built a reputation for his commanding stage presence and heartfelt interpretations.

Rivera’s career reached a milestone in 2010 when he won the Grammy Award for Best Banda Album with Tu Esclavo y Amo. He has also been nominated several times for both the Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, and has shared the stage with legends including Juan Gabriel. His discography of nearly 30 albums features classics such as El Moreño, Despreciado, Ya Lo Sé, El Rey de los Borrachos, and the emotional tribute Yo Te Extrañaré in honor of his sister, Jenni Rivera.

In addition to music, Lupillo has appeared on television in telenovelas and as a coach on La Voz México, further connecting with fans beyond the stage. With decades of experience, a powerful voice, and an unwavering connection to his audience, Lupillo Rivera remains a defining artist in banda and corrido music.
