Formed on April 13, 1987, Los Tucanes de Tijuana has become one of the most influential groups in Regional Mexican music, led by Mario Quintero Lara, the band’s founder, composer, and vocalist. Known as Los Papás de los Pollitos, they revolutionized norteño music with their signature mix of corridos, romantic songs, and cumbias, earning international recognition and a loyal following across Mexico, the United States, Latin America, and Europe.

The group has sold more than 14 million albums worldwide, placed 69 hits on the Billboard charts, and released over 30 albums. Their catalog has been recognized with 34 Gold Records and 30 Platinum Records certified by the RIAA. Quintero has written more than 500 songs recorded by over 100 artists, with classics like La Chona, Mis Tres Animales, El Tucanazo, El Centenario, and Secuestro de Amor cementing their place in music history.

Los Tucanes de Tijuana have received 12 Grammy nominations, winning the Latin Grammy in 2012 for Best Norteño Album with 365 Días. They have also earned 32 BMI Awards, Premio Lo Nuestro honors, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and numerous international recognitions. Their performances draw massive crowds, with historic concerts including 125,000 fans in New York, 100,000 at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca, and 85,000 at El Zócalo in Mexico City.

Beyond music, they have appeared in films, television, and documentaries, and their songs have been featured on major soundtracks including El Infierno and Señora Acero. They are also celebrated for their humanitarian contributions, supporting community causes in both Mexico and the United States.
